Don’t Look At Me Like That
“She said: “I can’t go to Paris with you. We’ve only just met. And I’ve got problems sticking to one man or something like that. Then there’s my past to think about. Or did you forgot?”
There was this question in her eyes.
He said: “I’m in no hurry, I’ve got as long as it takes. The passion beneath your surface makes me want to make mistakes. And as to your past, it’s right where you left it. It never pulls up stakes. No point in being otherwise.”
And she heard his note.
And he felt her fire.
Her resistance built as the stakes got higher.
Thought he heard her say, in a soft voice, no sir.
She pulled away.
He just pulled her closer. And she said: “Don’t look at me like that. Don’t look at me like that. You’re doing it again. Don’t look at me like that way. I can’t take it baby. Don’t look at me like that. Don’t look at me like that. You’re doing it again. Don’t look at me like that way. Don’t look at me like that way. No!””

Those big bright green eyes sent me in a frenzy that reminded of me of, “Don’t Look At Me Like That,” one of me favorite songs by jazz vocalist René Marie.
Those eyes. THOSE EYES!

I love Rene Marie. I remember back when she was an indie artist. I would rush from class to hear her perform at some smokey restaurant in Shockoe Bottom.
Rene Marie is the real deal & she never disappoints. I would love to see her perform live. Without the smoke of course!
